The Music Technology course is a complete and intensive course, designed for the students who want to learn how to create, record, edit, mix and master their own music.
About the Course
Students will start from learning about the principles of Audio Production, the meaning of different Music Technology terms and get familiar with the different types of hardware that we meet in a recording studio.
An industry standard DAW (digital audio workstation) will be studied in depth. Starting from beginner level and reaching advanced level by the end of the course, our students will cover almost every aspect of the software’s capabilities; from advanced audio / midi recording and editing techniques, to the use of various software synthesizers and introduction to different sound synthesis techniques, including sampling.
In addition students will have the opportunity to put into action numerous microphone recording techniques and use our state of the art recording facilities and a wide range of microphones to accomplice the best possible result.
Through a theoretical and practical framework, our students will be taught how to use the mixing and mastering tools, study mixing and mastering techniques and use the Cyprus School of Sound studios to put these techniques in practice.
Finally, to complete the course, the students will use the professional recording / mixing facilities that are available at CSS, to record, edit, mix and master their final recording project and produce a professional music single.
Resources
The lessons will take place in the classroom, mixing / recording studios and the main recording studio as required. Students will have to their disposal the latest software, as well as a wide variety of hardware, including: wide choice of microphones, a variety of studio hardware, electric guitar / bass guitar amplifiers and instruments.
Support
Due to the fact that the classes are small in size, students will benefit from having more time to experiment with the equipment and also receive better individual support by the teacher.
In addition to the variety of equipment and the the latest technology that students can enjoy at Private Institute Cyprus School of Sound, specially trained and experienced in the field lecturer, will be there each step of the way to ensure that individual support and guidance is given to each student, in order to help nurture and develop his/her creative and technical abilities.
Is this course for me?
This course is designed for the students who want to learn about most aspects of the use of technology in music.
The first part is music production based for those interested in learning how to use the technology to compose music with a computer, where the second part is focused in audio engineering (learning how to record, edit, mix and master audio)
Students who complete this course, could work towards a career as a music producer, studio sound engineer, audio technician or mixing engineer. Also, most of the skills that will be acquired during the course, are applicable to live engineering too.
